مصدر إلهامي قصيدة "يا علمنا"  للشاعرالشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، وخصوصاَ البيت الذي يقول فيه:

كـــــــــــنْ زايـــــــــــدْ فالسّــــــــــما يتبسّــــــــــماْ

وكلّ مـــــــــــا رفرفـــــــــــتْ يفـــرحْ بالوكـــــــادْ

الله يرحم بابا زايد ويغمد روحه الجنة. إختيار الشيخ محمد بن راشد كلمت "رفرفت" في وصف حركة العلم ألهمني لإستخدام الفراشات!

صنعت العلم من الجبس/البلاستر، وقمت بتذويب الشمع عليه بدلاً من تلوينه بيدي لأني أردت أن أوحي للمشاهد بأن الفراشات هي التي قامت بتلوين العلم. صنعت الفراشات من البلاستك.

“Ya Alamna” (which means “our flag”)

I was inspired by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s poem “Ya Alamna” especially a verse in his poem in which he says: “as if Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (God rest his soul) is smiling in the sky whenever he sees the flag flapping”.

His use of the word “flapping” inspired me to use butterflies in my art piece!! photo

I used plaster in creating the flag and I melted wax to give the viewer the feeling that the flag was painted by the butterflies. I created the butterflies from plastic.
